Revolv is a distinctive reverb plugin that draws inspiration from our cultural and sonic heritage. It offers users the ability to immerse their mixes in a variety of environments, whether it be a serene forest, ancient ruins, or a vibrant sauna. The impulse responses captured by Revolv effectively encapsulate the unique ambiance of each location, enabling exploration of acoustically significant spaces such as the medieval Gotland ruins or Uppsala Cathedral. These meticulously recorded sounds provide depth and authenticity to audio, distinguishing it from typical reverb applications.

A labor of love (and obsession)

Central to Revolv’s development is the commitment of sound designer Oscar Björk, who undertook an extensive journey across Sweden for his project "Echoes of Our Time." This initiative focused on capturing the distinct acoustic qualities of hand-selected locations. Björk’s dedication to preserving the essence and soundscape of these sites has culminated in an impressive collection of impulse responses, reflecting both his meticulous work and profound respect for Sweden's acoustic legacy.

Wheels of time and space

The innovative design of Revolv features "location wheels" paired with a loupe selector, allowing users to effortlessly navigate between different locations and associated sounds. Each site includes a detailed view providing insights into its history while enabling customization of vital parameters such as decay, predelay, width, microphone preference, and recording distance. Six wheels categorize locations that range from the rare and quirky to grand halls, ensuring varied options for creative exploration.

No AI, Just Pure Acoustics

Revolv utilizes convolution reverb technology to integrate audio with impulse responses derived from real acoustic spaces. This plugin simplifies the complex process, offering an intuitive interface with a rich array of authentic environments. Each impulse response is hand-recorded and processed, ensuring that no AI is involved; thus, each IR serves as a genuine audio representation of a space's natural acoustics. This commitment to authenticity positions Revolv as an essential tool for musicians, sound designers, and audio engineers—particularly within film and video game sound design—where realistic spatial replication is critical.
